Analysis & Planning
The project began with an in-person meeting with the leadership of the Universidad Católica de Honduras (UNICAH) to understand their needs and objectives. During this stage, we thoroughly analyzed the institution's requirements and end-user expectations. A detailed plan was developed to structure the website, ensuring it accurately reflected the university's identity and delivered a dynamic, functional experience.
Interface Design
We designed the site mockups as a team with the Oneblis company in Figma, prioritizing a modern and attractive interface that met UI/UX standards. This process allowed me to explore visual and functional solutions that facilitated navigation and highlighted UNICAH's institutional values. Every detail was carefully reviewed to ensure an intuitive and professional experience.
Development in WordPress
Once the design was approved, I proceeded to implement the site in WordPress, utilizing its powerful CMS capabilities to create a dynamic and easily manageable platform. I customized themes and plugins to ensure the site was not only visually appealing but also functional and user-friendly. This stage involved integrating the design elements with the backend functionalities, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Pre-launch Testing
Before launching the site, I conducted extensive testing to ensure all functionalities worked correctly and the design was responsive across different devices. This included checking links, forms, and interactive elements to guarantee a smooth user experience. Feedback from the client was incorporated to make final adjustments and ensure the site met their expectations.
Launch and Follow-up
After successfully completing the testing phase, I launched the website, making it accessible to the public. Post-launch, I provided support to the UNICAH team to ensure they were comfortable managing the site and could make updates as needed. This included training sessions on how to use WordPress effectively and answering any questions they had about the platform.
Reflections and Learning
This project was an enriching experience that allowed me to improve more into UI/UX design principles, applying them practically to create a website that met high standards of functionality and aesthetics. I learned to work in a team, communicate effectively with clients, and manage projects from start to finish, from planning to launch. Additionally, I acquired technical skills in WordPress and Figma that have enabled me to expand my knowledge and improve my ability to develop innovative digital solutions.
